A brief story about the future of decentralized social media
and why it matters.

Let us tell you a story...

...one about artists being ripped off by platforms designed to profit from their creativity. A story about countries censoring the voices of their own citizens, silencing dissent and truth in the name of control. A story about governments secretly intimidating traditional social media companies, demanding private information about their users, eroding the very fabric of privacy and autonomy.

This is not just a tale of the past but a reflection of the world we live in today. And then, one day, an anonymous person emerged from the shadows of the internet and introduced something new: TAGGR. With Taggr, they turned on a light, illuminating what the internet could and should be: decentralized, autonomous, and driven by the very people who use it.

The Birth of TAGGR: A Beacon of Decentralization

Taggr is more than just a platform; it's a movement. Born from the idea that the internet should be free from censorship, exploitation, and centralized control, Taggr is a fully decentralized, censorship-resistant platform for content publishing and communication. It operates on the Internet Computer Protocol, a public computing infrastructure developed by Dfinity and designed to empower users rather than corporations.

What makes Taggr unique?

- A Blend of Forums and Blogs:

Taggr combines the community spirit of forums with the personal touch of blogs, offering a space for meaningful conversations and authentic content.

- Tokenized Ownership:

The platform is governed by its token holders, ensuring that those who contribute to the community have a voice in its future.

- Ad-Free and Revenue-Generating:

Unlike traditional social media, Taggr is completely ad-free. Instead, it generates revenue through user interactions, which is then distributed to content creators and token holders.

- Autonomy and Self-Sufficiency:

Taggr is financially and technically autonomous. It doesn’t rely on outside funding or centralized control, making it truly independent.

The Mechanics of Taggr: How it Works

Taggr operates on a unique tokenomics system that incentivizes active participation while maintaining the platform's autonomy.

- Usage Costs

Every interaction on Taggr, from posting to commenting to reacting, consumes credits. These credits are then funneled into Taggr’s Treasury, where they are used to sustain the platform and reward users.

- Rewards and Revenue Sharing

Users can earn rewards through positive interactions, which are converted into ICP (Internet Computer’s currency) and distributed weekly. Additionally, active token holders receive a share of the platform’s revenue, further aligning the community’s interests with the platform’s success.

- Decentralized Governance

All decisions on Taggr are made through a decentralized governance process, where proposals are reviewed and voted on by the community. With a required approval threshold of 66%, this system ensures that only well-supported ideas are implemented.

Taggr's Story in Numbers

The story we’re telling you is not just a fairytale—it’s a real thing that already exists and has a solid foundation upon which we can continue building the future of the internet, content creation, and information sharing.

- User Base

Taggr has attracted over 5000 users, with a weekly active user base of more than 250, showing the platform's growing community of dedicated participants.

- Content Creation

Users have generated over 1 million posts and comments, reflecting the platform’s vibrant and engaged community.

- Revenue Generation

Taggr has already generated more than $40,000 in revenue, with more than 2500 ICP distributed among its users, demonstrating its sustainable and user-centric model.

- Autonomy

Taggr is fully autonomous, with its system able to manage resources like storage and compute costs without external intervention.

Proposal Reviews and Community Roadmap

Taggr’s governance is robust, with proposal reviews and community debates driving its continuous evolution. The community roadmap, proposed and voted on by the DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization), outlines the platform’s future, ensuring that every step forward is aligned with the users’ collective vision.

Key Milestones Include:

- Launch and Governance: Since its launch in December 2021, Taggr has transitioned to a fully token-governed platform by March 2022.

- Token Transferability In December 2023, the platform’s tokens became transferable, marking a significant step in its decentralization journey.

- Future Roadmap As of May 2024, the roadmap is now determined by DAO votes, ensuring that the community has a direct say in the platform's direction.
